STUDENT LOANS
Imagine being financially free ten years after graduating veterinary school. Enjoy working as a veterinarian, rather than drowning in student loan payments. Feel peace rather than financial anxiety.
Who we are

Pet Parents for Independent Veterinary Care is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created by veterinarians and pet owners. We advocate for the care and wellbeing of pets, owners and veterinary providers. We believe in veterinarians making autonomous recommendations to owners regarding their pet’s healthcare. We aim to achieve this goal by supporting vets, pets and owners through our programs. These include business offerings for independent private practice owners, afterhours triage telehealth services, pet owner education, student loan support and providing care for rescued animals.

We work with those who share our values and believe in a society of compassion, equality, public health, science and continued democracy. Our leadership and employees are clear in their shared common principles for a society of freedom and choice.

What we do

  • Imagine being financially free ten years after graduating veterinary school.

  • Enjoying working as a veterinarian, rather than swimming in a regret of student loans.

  • Feel peace rather than anxiety over money.

  • Our nonprofit is making this a reality for veterinarians.

  • Our employees have had over 1.4 million dollars in debt forgiven.

  • A lot of veterinarians are wishing now they took this opportunity earlier.

  • We have a limited number of spaces available.

Pet Parents for Independent Veterinary Care assists independent practice owners, veterinarians, current students and pre-vet undergraduates concerned about massive educational debt and corporate takeover of the veterinary profession.

Please note we are currently only taking employment applications from direct referrals. You will be asked to list the name of the veterinarian who referred you.

This opportunity is best for the following scenarios and is currently open to all licensed veterinarians and current veterinary students.

  • You have over 250,000 of student loan debt currently or after graduation and are committed to a 10 year forgiveness approach to your loans.

  • If you have completed several years already under a PSLF employer but are no longer working for a qualified employer

We will be opening the program to applicants for a short time period and have a limited number of employment positions available.

The recently enacted "Big Bill" means detrimental changes for student loan borrowers. Our employment program will help you navigate the system to become debt free. We have a limited number of positions and applications are closing soon.

After dedicating 8 years to Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) through my work in zoo medicine at non-profit organizations,  I unexpectedly needed to leave the non-profit field to provide medical home care for a family member.  There was no doubt in my mind that family was the clear priority, but knowing I left PSLF hanging in the balance weighed heavily on my mind. This incredible nonprofit is keeping me on track toward loan forgiveness while equipping me with invaluable business resources, like saving thousands on taxes. They give employees amazing resources like setting up the business aspect of relief work and a mobile practice for the flexible work schedule I need in this season of my life. Their support is unmatched and they’re empowering veterinarians like me to thrive personally and professionally. If you're looking for the ultimate resource to boost your career and secure PSLF success, PPIVC is your answer. As a new veterinarian, navigating student loans post-graduation felt daunting. Despite consistent payments, my balance seemed to increase. A colleague recommended PPIVC, and their leadership team's expertise in PSLF was immediately clear. They thoroughly explained the fundraising associate role and its PSLF eligibility requirements. I appreciate that I can continue my urgent care shifts while fulfilling the necessary qualifications through PPIVC. Seeing my loan account now reflect PSLF enrollment with multiple qualifying payments is incredibly reassuring. This opportunity has been life-changing, and I'm so glad I took the steps to make a debt-free future a reality.
