WELCOME TO

OUR MISSION
Pet Parents for Independent Veterinary Care is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created by veterinarians and pet owners. We advocate for the care and wellbeing of pets, owners and veterinary providers. We believe in veterinarians making autonomous recommendations to owners regarding their pet’s healthcare. We aim to achieve this goal by supporting vets, pets and owners through our programs. These include business offerings for independent private practice owners, afterhours triage telehealth services, pet owner education, student loan support and providing care for rescued animals.

We work with those who share our values and believe in a society of compassion, equality, public health, science and continued democracy. Our leadership and employees are clear in their shared common principles for a society of freedom and choice.
OUR PROJECTS

1. Pet Parents for Independent Veterinary Care
PPIVC assists independent practice owners, veterinarians and current vet students concerned about massive educational debt and corporate takeover of the veterinary profession.
Our employees have had over 1.4 million dollars of student loans forgiven.
Please note we are currently only taking employment applications from direct referrals. You will be asked to list the name of the veterinarian who referred you.

For students we offer a volunteer program, with opportunity for employment after graduation.
This opportunity is best for the following scenarios and is currently open to all licensed veterinarians and current veterinary students.
-
You have over 250,000 of student loan debt currently or after graduation and are committed to a 10 year forgiveness approach to your loans.
-
If you have completed several years already under a PSLF employer but are no longer working for a qualified employer

We will be opening the program to applicants for a short time period and have a limited number of spots available.
2. Uplift.vet Medical Staffing
Uplift Medical Staffing is a nonprofit organization and professional marketplace that connects licensed veterinary and medical professionals with clinics in need of short-term relief staffing. Uplift sets itself apart from corporate staffing agencies by reinvesting in the well-being of its professionals- offering flexible scheduling, fast payments, and access to wellness resources. Through its platform, clinics can post shifts and relief veterinarians can choose assignments that fit their schedules. Uplift’s mission is to support both practices and professionals while improving patient care- without the profit-driven model of traditional staffing companies.

3. Virtual Care Vet
Virtual Care Vet is a nonprofit service offered to help reduce the worry of pets entering or remaining in the shelter system. We offer this service free of charge to pet owners deeply impacted by natural disasters and to the dedicated individuals at rescue organizations. Our app allows for telehealth consultations with our experienced veterinarians to understand and address your concerns. Donations allow us to provide compassionate, accessible care for pets and their owners during these challenging circumstances. This goal helps keep beloved pets from the stress of the shelter system and lowers the heartbreaking rates of euthanasia.
